Editorial and Publishing Services
I. Author Meets Editor
We want the author to be comfortable with the editing and beta reading process. We offer an ‘Author Meets Editor’ phase at the very beginning of our relationship. The author has the opportunity to provide a chapter of a book to us for preliminary editing. Sometimes, the author and editor are not a great fit, and that’s okay.

II. Copy Editing
We can assist with copy editing almost any genre, but we do prefer fiction. HodgePodge Press only has a limited number of editors so we may not be able to assist if the literature is over 75K words. We have the right to change pricing at any time if the editing required exceeds normal expectations.
General Pricing (all genres over 50 pages):
$1 per page for the first 50 pages, $.0.80 for each additional page – up to 100 pages, $0.50 for each page after that. All paging includes the entire book from title page to the end with the author page.
Example: A book with 150 pages would cost the author $115 for copy editing.
General Pricing for Children’s Books and All Genres (50 pages or less):

III. Beta Reading
Sometimes, an author only needs a quick proofreading to ensure the book is ready for publication; we can provide minimal editing and proofreading. If beta reading turns into copy editing, we have the right to change the pricing to match the copy editing pricing.
General Pricing (all genres over 50 pages):
$0.20 per page
Example: A book with 150 pages would cost the author $30 for beta reading.
General Pricing for Children’s Books and All Genres (50 pages or less):
$0.15 per page

IV. Self-Publishing
Preferring to use CreateSpace, we can help the author upload their PDFs for print and KDP (Kindle) publishing. We charge a flat fee to help upload and publish the files, but we do not maintain the CreateSpace account for the author. All royalties go directly to the author. The author is responsible for paying the ISBN fee and any other fees required by CreateSpace. If we provide this service, we require the author use our HodgePodge Press owl logo and HodgePodge Press name with the ISBN.
